The Performing Animal Welfare Society
The Performing Animal Welfare Society's two wildlife sanctuaries are home to abandoned, abused, or retired performing animals and victims of the exotic animal trade. The organization was founded by Ed Stewart and Pat Derby, a former exotic animal trainer. The sanctuary in San Andreas, CA, is currently home to five Asian and four African elephants. The Asians roam a 40 acre enclosure. The Africans area measures 75 acres.
