The Reverend Billy Graham has been called the most important preacher in America. He is certainly the most popular, having helped elevate evangelism from its roadside revival meeting to the national television screen.
A man from humble beginnings in North Carolina, his simple message and passionate preaching helped him become trusted adviser to American Presidents starting with Harry Truman. In fact George W. Bush credits the Reverend for helping him with his personal conversion.
This weekend the aging and ailing Graham takes the pulpit in New York for what could be his final crusade. We’re looking at Billy Graham, his role in the rise of Evangelical Christianity and its growing influence on politics.
Guests:
Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son and the President and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
Randall Balmer, Professor of American religion at Barnard College, Columbia University
Dr. Rick Scarborough, Founder and President of Vision America.
