With so much going on in Boston every weekend, how does the culture lover choose, or even find, the best of what Beantown has to offer? Let Hubbub do some of the sleuthing for you.
Oh hey June, where’d you go? We’re officially in the thick (read: thick, muggy air) of summer in Boston, and as they say, if you can’t cool down, then succumb to the heat and have the most fun possible (or that’s what I say, anyway). From celebrating the height of sticky-sweet strawberry season to walking, biking or dancing in the streets, it’s a great weekend to be sweaty in the city.

- North 26 Restaurant and Bar, 26 North St.

Local restaurants will be working locally-grown strawberries into their menus all month long, with half of the proceeds from the berry-dotted dishes benefiting Massachusetts’ Farmers Markets. This weekend, North 26 is up to bat, featuring a lavender panna cotta with strawberry conserve, dark chocolate madeleines with strawberry mint salad, and strawberry creme fraiche ice cream in a cookie cup. Low carbon footprint + highly satisfied taste buds? Sign me up.
- Saturday, June 26, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

It doesn’t get much fresher than this. Buy as many oysters as you can eat, and learn how to prep them from the pros. The slurping is up to you.

As if Phantom Gourmet throwing a barbecue didn’t promise enough awesomeness, they’re letting hungry Bostonians in free on Friday, as well as offering free Ferris wheel rides, horse racing and live music. Featuring the greatest barbecue teams in the world from Australia to Texas, it may be wise to ride the Ferris wheel before stuffing our faces.

- June 26 at 7 p.m. to June 27 at 5 a.m.
- Starts and ends at City Hall Plaza
The Out of the Darkness Overnight is an 18-mile journey through the night, from dusk until dawn. It’s a unique opportunity to bring the issues of depression and suicide “into the light” and generate awareness and aid the efforts of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I’ll be at the walk Saturday night for Hubbub, so check back here post-walk for photos and more.
- Friday, June 25, 6 p.m.
- Starts at 103 Atlantic Ave.

As Urban Adventours says, “there’s something about riding at night.” See Long Wharf, the ICA, and The Court House from a whole new angle in a whole new light Friday evening – and be on the look-out for worthy post-ride hangout spots. The tour includes a bike, helmet and water bottle.

Mass Ave. turns into one big open-air club Friday night at dusk, as Cambridge hosts its annual dance party in the streets. Bring a posse, leave your high heels at home and don’t count on the 1 bus between 6:30 and 11:30 p.m.
