Slideshow by Susanna Bolle
Tricia Smith is co-owner of Carlisle Farmstead Cheese, a goat farm and dairy that, until two weeks ago, was located in Carlisle, MA. A civil engineer by training, Tricia had worked at Cambridge design firms. But, despite her successful career, she was always drawn to farm animals, especially goats.
In WBUR’s ongoing series “Radio Bostonians,” we focus on the extraordinary people in our midst. Radio Boston’s Jessica Alpert headed out to the farm to take a closer look at the life of Tricia Smith…and her twelve goats.
Listen to Radio Boston at 3pm EST today. Audio from the show will be posted at 5pm.

GGRREAT Slide show.and article – Ms Bolle is great
You can now have 6 hens in your yard (no roosters – no noise) if you live in Evanston IL…How long before we all have a goat or two in Chicago??
Terrific slide show! Looking forward to 3pm. Years many ago when she started making goat cheese, the Concord Cheese shop had some and it was truly wonderful. Sadly, if you look at their website: http://carlislefarmsteadcheese.com/cheese-info.htm you will see that over development in Carlisle, MA has contributed to their being forced out in order to expand.
This is just one more reason why we have to Repeal 40B in November. VOTE YES on #2. Repeal 40B and stop forced development. 40B is about developer profits. It has nothing to do with “affordable housing.” That is a red herring. “MA Inspector General Gregory Sullivan has memos and reports on the MA state website citing the scandals of 40B developers. Take a look at what Tewskbury says: http://www.tewksburyissues.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7162
a great story and heartwarmning,,, she works really hard at this, and deserves all the attention she can get for the goats and herself… good luck on the move
