The Backstory

Quadequina of the Wampanoag tribe was the brother of Chief Massasoit. Nowadays it is commonly thought that Quadequina brought popped corn to the first Thanksgiving meal (1621), but he may have simply brought maize or “Indean corn,” in the words of William Bradford, as a ceremonial gesture of goodwill. The colonists purportedly took to popcorn so well they served it for breakfast with sugar and cream. The very first puffed breakfast cereal!
