Let me make a confession loud and clear (it’s time). I LOVE TATER TOTS. Yes, I know…totally gauche but they are just so good. Taters were the first oven-involved snack I made for myself at age twelve and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Independent Radio Producer Guy Hand loves to study the history of food and often uncovers gems of stories in the process. He did this piece on the tater tot and let me tell ya….it’s fascinating.
If you are a tater tot lover and haven’t not yet done so already, get thee to Garden at the Cellar near Harvard Square, where Wil Gilson does a superb housemade version of tater tots. Spectacular!
I confess to loving the *idea* of tater tots, but I can’t bring myself to buy them. I think I’m afraid they won’t like up to the TT ideal. I may need to check out MC Slim’s recommendation before I dive back into the tater tot pool.
Ooh oooh, Chef Gilson’s Tater Tot recipe is here: http://how2heroes.com/videos/sides/tater-tots
Thanks to all! I’m excited to try this recipe (or maybe taste the real deal at the Cellar)!
I frequently have TT’s for breakfast. They’re hot, filling and sort of delicious in a decadent way.
Yay, Tater Tots!
I too love tater tots. Tremont 647 makes their own tater tots, so good.
Grill 23 used to make them with truffles. Kind of makes it feel okay.
