Time to Make the Donuts
To celebrate their 60th year of donut making, Dunkin Donuts asked their customers to design their newest sweet treat. Over 90,000 creations were submitted and widdled down to 12 finalists, three of which are from Massachusetts! “Monkey-see Monkey donut,” “Snack-o-Lantern,” and “S’morgasbord”…Rachel Davis of Sharon created the “Monkey-see Monkey donut,” a banana-filled sphere covered with chocolate frosting and peanut butter cup crumbles. Jennifer Hayes of Hardwick turned out a pumpkin, maple and cinnamon donut dubbed the “Snack-o-Lantern.” Chris Wiley of Medford invented the “S’morgasbord,” a marshmallow-filled donut with chocolate icing and graham cracker crumbles. No boring glazed donuts from these folks. Voting by the public ended this week, so it’s a wait and see until June 4, National Donut Day (you gotta read the history behind this day, it’s fascinating), to find out which of the 12 creative concoctions will be hitting the DD shelves.

You Be The JUDGE
Last month we wrote about about the W Hotel’s You Be The Fudge Event. Well, on Monday night Boston’s food bloggies attended and cast their vote for which Boston brownie (Flour, Rosie’s, or South End Buttery) should be featured at the W Hotel’s Bliss Spa Brownie Bar. Finance Foodie went for Flour, while Fork it Over went for Rosie’s. The big winner? Kinda like the donuts, we won’t find out until June, when Bliss Boston opens.

Pinkberry coming to Harvard Square?
Any Pinkberry fans out there? Last November the CA-based chain announced it was looking to expand to Boston, and now rumors are spreading that their first location may be in Harvard Square. The Harvard Crimson is reporting that Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt, followed for its tart treat with add-your-own toppings, is interested in taking over the former space of Alpha Omega Jewelers.

Asparagus Time!
It’s asparagus season and Tod from Tasting Times is excited. So excited, in fact, he got busy and created what he calls one fun, wine-friendly, asparagus-centric meal.  The main attraction? Get it here

All Things Pig
TW Food is going pig-centric on May 13th, presenting its PigFest 2010: A Celebration of All Things Pig. A gourmet, pork-filled menu with wine pairings

Last Meet Meat, May 15
Pig and more at the last Meat Meet of the winter season. Not just organic meat, but a tailgate, local veggies, seedlings from Stillman’s, T-shirts and hopefully some sun. Who could ask for more? Details from JJ here.
