P-Town Restaurant Week
Here is your excuse to escape to the Cape for a weekend before hotel rates skyrocket. Provincetown will host their Spring restaurant week next week, from Friday, May 21st through Thursday, May 27th. Participating restaurants will offer $25-35 three course prix fixe dinners. On Saturday, don’t forget the art galleries, the town-wide yard sale and the farmers market (11-4pm).
South Boston to get new grocery store
I have a personal bias in posting this exciting news, but here goes… I currently live in South Boston, and the grocery options in that part of town often leave something to be desired. Not for long! Foodies is opening its third location in an abandoned warehouse on W Broadway. They haven’t announced exactly where, but my guess is it’s the old candy wholesaler on the corner of C Street. The place hasn’t been touched since I moved to the neighborhood, but lately there’s been some activity going on . ‘Fingers crossed here!
Lunch in Paris
Meet best-selling author Elizabeth Bard this Saturday at the French Library and hear her tale on love and loving food, French-style. She’ll be whipping up a batch of her delicious molten chocolate cakes…
Munch Your Way Around
On Saturday, May 22nd Watson Adventures is hosting a Munch Around Cambridge Scavenger Hunt, leading a tour of Cambridge vis a vis grilled cheese sandwiches, bubble tea, crepes and jalapeno ice cream. I always prefer to travel by taste buds, and this seems like the perfect way to go. Teams up to six strong are accepted, and Watson is encouraging you to bring a camera to document your foodie exploits. While the hunt points you towards their favorites, the ultimate choice is between you and your tummy and a range of options to suit your budget as well as your diet. The event kicks off in front of the Charles Hotel at 1pm. Tickets are $20 per person and they suggest you bring $10 for food. Belly up.
Beer, beer and more beer… (and some food)
Cambridge Common and Cambridge Brewing Company are teaming up for a beer dinner Tuesday, June 1st at 6:30pm. The event will feature four courses of food; we’re talking shrimp enchiladas and pulled pork tacos, each paired with a brew. You can get your tickets in advance for fifty bucks (includes ticket fee, tax and tip).
Hi – thanks for the tips – will give one of these
adventures a try after peeking at my calendar.
