We don't know that much about Nest 9 Female. We put a band on this gentle bird's left leg as an adult, so we don't know her age. She and her mate (also banded as an adult) have bred in the same location for at least ten consecutive seasons beginning in1993 (our nest-specific studies began that year). This pair is consistent and usually succeeds in fledging its chicks early. The male from this nest was noted to have a slight limp during the 2000 season, but has recovered completely. Both members of this pair have been used for satellite tracking studies and we hope to compare foraging patterns of consistent, experienced birds with the younger birds on Humble Island.
